For those of you that have been following the story of our distillery layout, you’ll be pleased to know that if you want to view paradise, you simply need to scroll down and view it. So, let’s look at the stillroom layout and announce who won the “5” Golden Tickets which allow their holders (and one guest) a VIP Day with Whisky Wonka!
The Golden Tickets
Let’s first review the prize; each Golden Ticket allows the ticket holder and their guest a VIP Day out at Nine Rivers Distillery. The day includes:
- A formal legal process of signing an agreement of confidentiality around “What happens at Whisky Wonka’s Magic Juice Factory – STAYS at Whisky Wonka’s Magic Juice Factory.” The document also warns you to steer clear of the dangerous malt river and the barley tester. You don’t want to be labeled as bad barley!
- Brunch with Whisky Wonka and his Oompa Loompas. Ever had a whisky bloody mary or an eggs single malt benedict? Neither have we.
- A VIP guided tour of the entire facility with hands-on opportunities to get involved with the key stages of production – milling, mashing, fermenting and, of course, distilling!
- Lunch with Whisky Wonka and some of the 9RD board members (if you survived the brunch and also didn’t do anything naughty on the tour).
- Take flight with an afternoon of tasting (no glass elevator, sorry) – everything we have produced up until this point in time, including an entire flight of The Founders’ Casks – all 6 editions.
- Sneak preview tastings on other concepts, styles, and finishes that we are working on.
- Sneak previews on product designs and concepts that we have planned for future releases. Maybe we will even ask for your opinion.
- Celebration photographs and the name of ticket holders and their guest carved into history, listed on a dedicated VIP section of our website.
- A huge bag of swag to take home.
5 Becomes 9 – A Good Deed in a Weary World
Due to the overwhelming response that we had across our social media platforms, we decided to increase the number of Golden Tickets to 9. Our whisky arithmetic led us to expect 500 or so entries, and 1% winning a Golden Ticket seemed like it made sense. But, with just over 900 entries, it only felt right to increase the tickets awarded to 9. Plus, 9 tickets, 9 Rivers, you get it. Sometimes we get too focused on making references and we forget ourselves. Anyway, let’s talk more about us now.
The Final Layout – Let’s Sing this Celebration
We were admittedly not surprised when more than half of you voted for this layout. The layout configuration we called “The Choir” well outshone all the others across all platforms.
And not just for our readers either; this 10 still configuration was the preferred choice of the entire Nine Rivers Distillery team. Learning that it was the favourite of our audience reinforces our original decision. Validation is a nice feeling, isn’t it?
As a brief recap on the key highlights, this configuration utilises:
- 2 x 30’000 litre wash stills
- 2 x 25’000 litre spirit stills
- 2 x 15’000 litre wash stills
- 2 x 5’400 litre spirit stills (type 1)
- 2 x 5’400 litre spirit stills (type 2)
All are equipped with state-of-the-art Wonka Dramdicators which help indicate which cask type the new make spirit is best suited for!
We believe this will give us about 7 million LPA (liters of pure alcohol) of production capacity and allow us to make three distinct styles of new make spirit. This will lead to us being able to make some profoundly interesting whiskies for all whisky lovers to enjoy.
