Not long to go before we have our biggest event yet, Bricking It, – when everyone that bought their brick for The Plenum Wall, gets a chance to come along to our site and cement their brick into the wall.
For those of you that might need to refresh your memory, here’s a link to the article that announced this as A Brick for Life.
Brick owners will be forever immortalised into our feature wall, with their name (or chosen name if they bought bricks as gifts for friends or family) engraved and painted into a stainless steel plate, that will be wrapped around a brick that will then be part of the wall at the main entrance to Building 3.
Additional perks for brick owners include a free measure of our finest spirit every single time the brick owner comes to visit our distillery – for life. Subject of course to the brick owner being over the legal age for drinking alcohol and they are not driving!
Bricking It – The Event Schedule
The event will be pretty simple and straight forward and an agenda will probably look something like:
- Arrival and Registration
- Coffee and edibles
- A bit of a welcome with some grey haired typed saying a few words – we’ll try and ensure that they rap and beatbox, just to make it a bit more interesting.
- A tour of the site for everyone as we introduce our concrete and steel to everyone.
- Then we start Bricking It, with people laying their bricks in a (hopefully) planned, and methodical way and while some people are laying bricks, others will no doubt be sipping and socialising nearby.
- Lunch will be between 12 and 2 and will consist of a stunning Texas style barbecue and
- People will continue to lay their bricks after lunch (if they haven’t done so already) and once bricks are completed, people are welcome to continue to mingle and socialise in a separate and nearby area.
- There are rumours of a whisky tasting in the early evening, accompanied by more amazing food.
- People are free to leave at their own convenience after they have laid their bricks. Anyone with a right schedule will be prioritised as much as possible for laying their bricks.
The Date for Bricking It
Bricking It will be held on Saturday 29th July, 2023, starting at about 10am.
Travelling to Bricking It in Longyan
Longyan is blessed with some amazing infrastructure. It has high speed roads (you might call them motorways or highways) in all directions that connect with the national network of roads covering all of China.
Longyan has a fantastic, high speed train station, with trains coming in from all over China. It is served by both the G-series and the D-Series trains and most parts of China have multiple train options every single day of the week. Our site is a 30 minute taxi journey from Longyan station.
For those of you that prefer to fly to Bricking It, then the most suitable national and international airport is Xiamen. From Xiamen airport, you can easily get connecting trains to Longyan. Again, a short taxi ride will get you to our site.
Some Of The Rules (more will be supplied to those attending)
- There is a limited number of places available. This number is currently capped at 100 people. Once there are 100 reservations, then people will go onto a standby waiting list.
- Everyone MUST pre-register to attend the event. If you’re not registered, before the event (none of this “I’ll register when I arrive nonsense”) you won’t get onto the site. No compromises. No excuses. We need to manage the number of people in attendance.
- If your circumstances change and you cannot attend, LET US KNOW so we can reallocate your place to someone else. If you register and then don’t show up, resulting in your place being wasted – don’t expect to be coming to any future events.
- No kids on the construction site. There is no creche on site. So if you’re bringing rug rats, you’ll have to bring a responsible adult to look after them nearby while you’re on the construction site.
- There will be a long, lengthy list of rules presented to you to sign and agree before we accept your planned attendance.
